Compass Informatics held another in their series of INSPIRE Master Classes, on 17 February 2010 at their offices in Blackrock, Dublin. Rather than the usual full day workshop covering most aspects of INSPIRE, this half-day event focused on the workflows required to locate, create and publish INSPIRE-compliant metadata. Metadata is covered by the first of the INSPIRE implementing rules to be adopted as an EC Regulation, on 3 December 2008. Under this Regulation, metadata for the 13 data themes listed in Annexes I and II of the Directive must be created by the end of 2010.

The workflows are incorporated into the Compass' INSPIRE Compliance Porfolio of services, and the resulting metadata can be collected, edited and then published using the Compass INSPIRE Compliance Toolkit, using either open source or proprietary toolsets.
